After a decade of output as the inscrutable/unsearchable Category, Mayday is the first music by Patrck Ryan Driscoll released under his own name. First conceived as a collection of freeform danceable jams, the long foundational works for Mayday were improvised ‘live’ on hardware in 2021 and left to ferment/foment for over a year before being cut down and developed in 2022/23. The resultant EP alternates between ecstatic movement and still solitude.

Mayday is both present but oddly out of time–elliptical echoes of decades past phasing in and out of orbit with dance beats and bright beams of light cutting sharp shadows into the future. Spring is upon us, but we remember winter’s chill and long for summer’s warmth.

100% of artist proceeds from the sale of this album will be donated to the Equal Justice Initiative (eji.org), a nonprofit organization that provides legal representation to people who have been illegally convicted, unfairly sentenced, or abused in state jails and prisons.
